1 shot dead on 25th Street
INDIANAPOLIS — Indy police are investigating after one person was killed and another was hospitalized following a shooting on the city’s near northwest side.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called around 8:10 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of W. 25th Street, a residential area near 25th and Dr. MLK Jr. Street, on report of a person shot.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. That man, IMPD said, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around the same time, IMPD said that an adult male walked into Methodist Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. The man is currently listed in very critical condition.
As of 9 p.m. Thursday, IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer said detectives think the two incidents are connected. However, no witnesses nor evidence, including a gun, were found on the scene.
Weilhammer said that there is no active threat to the neighborhood and that detectives think the shooting was isolated to the two victims.
Anyone with information on the shooting is being asked to contact IMPD Homicide Det. David Miller by calling (317) 327-3475. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
