2 arrests made in 2 Monday evening homicides
INDIANAPOLIS — Officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced Tuesday that arrests related to two Monday evening homicides have been made.
According to a news release from IMPD, 22-year-old Larenzo Johnson was arrested for his reported role in the homicide on the west side of Indianapolis Monday evening.
According to previous reports, officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of W. Ray Street around 8:53 p.m. Monday on reports that a man had been shot. When officers arrived on scene, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds outside an apartment building.
Officials said in the release that before the shooting, a family disturbance reportedly occurred and at some point, shots were fired. The man who was shot was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was reportedly on the scene when officers arrived and was transported to the homicide office for questioning.
After IMPD consulted with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Johnson was arrested on murder charges, according to the release.
IMPD also reported an arrest made in a second homicide from Monday evening. According to the release, 61-year-old Rodregus Morgan was arrested for his reported involvement in a homicide on the far east side of Indianapolis.
According to previous reports, police were called to the 3100 block of Osceola Lane around 9:52 p.m. Monday on reports that a woman had been shot. Officers located the woman in a vehicle and she was later pronounced dead.
According to the release, officers believe an argument occurred before the shooting. IMPD said that Morgan was on scene when officers arrived and Morgan was transported to the homicide office for questioning.
After consulting with the MCPO, Morgan was arrested on murder charges, according to the release.
