5-year-old dies after being found unresponsive in pool

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating after a 5-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a pool Saturday evening.

According to authorities, at around 7:15 p.m., deputies were called to the Woodland Springs Pool in the 3100 block of South Leonard Springs Road in Bloomington.

When deputies arrived, firefighters and medics were actively performing CPR on the child.

He was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators say detectives interviewed witnesses at the scene and preliminarily do not believe there was a crime.

The incident remains under investigation.
