TEHRAN – The 15th edition of a children’s painting exhibition, which is organized annually by the Mahak Charity Society, opened online on Friday.
This year’s exhibition has spotlighted COVID-19 with the motto “Corona, a Common Enemy,” the organizers announced.
Works by 56 young artists will be on display for a week on the website of the Mahak Charity Society, a major medical center for children with cancer in Tehran. The exhibition can be found at http://mhak.ir/onlinegallery.
The artist children are taught by Tara Behbahani, an art teacher who has made a significant contribution to the charity exhibition over the past 15 years.
“56 children have come together in this exhibition to fight against cancer and COVID-19 by presenting their perception of the terrible coronavirus to raise funds for children with cancer,” she said in a press release.
“The purchase of the artworks, which is performed in a symbolic form, engenders their love for humanity, and is institutionalized in their lives and encourages them to take their next steps firmly in this area,” she added.
“Fighting the crisis of COVID-19 and the quarantine are the experiences most of us have had over the past two years,” noted Behbahani.
“We suffered from disability, weakness, despair and unanswered questions brought on by the disease, but the coronavirus has taught us how an unknown disease can affect our lives. There is always a fight against an unknown disease within those families with a child with cancer. They always live all their days and nights with fear,” she added.
She cited COVID-19 and cancer as two common enemies of humans, saying, “Collaboration is an absolute necessity to beat COVID, as children with cancer can recover from the disease with the help of benevolent people.”
