WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Allergy season is upon us and several Wichitans are already experiencing the side effects. KSN News spoke with a local pediatrician who says there are several remedies for allergies.

One thing that Dr. Amy Seery recommends is that people look at the weather before going outside. Making sure you know the temperature and wind speed can help you determine the amount of pollen that may be blown.
Another thing people can do is replace their old air filter, keep their windows open a bit, and take a shower after being outside for a long time.
“We’re going to get people to mow their lawn. We are getting strong winds. It will kick a lot of microparticles into the air, and trees will start dumping their pollen. So a lot of people are going to have some flare-ups,” Seery said.

She also recommends that people flush out their sinuses by using the over-the-counter saline solution and wear their masks to prevent bacteria or pollen from entering their nose or mouth.
