INDIANAPOLIS – Crews will continue work this week as part of the I-69 Finish Line project, with much of the work focused on I-465.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the existing I-465 bridge above Meridian Street has been removed. Demolition of the bridge over the White River will continue in the weeks to come.
INDOT didn’t anticipate any traffic impact from the project, although the agency asked drivers to be aware of the construction zone and watch their speeds.
Activity that will affect traffic involves the installation of overhead signs on I-465 eastbound and westbound near Mann Road and Lick Creek. Drivers should watch for nightly lane closures—both single- and double-lane—until Wednesday (Jan. 31) between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Drivers will also see some closures for bridge beam placement at U.S. 31 to I-465 westbound. The work was scheduled to start Tuesday (Jan. 30) and continue through Wednesday (Jan. 31), with closures occurring between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
In addition, potholes are unavoidable this time of year. INDOT said crews are “actively repairing” potholes in the I-69 Finish Line work zone. Drivers could encounter intermittent lane closures or traffic stoppages along I-465 as a result.
INDOT said the majority of these restrictions would happen between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., although some daytime work could also be involved.
