Man pleads guilty to killing 21-year-old woman, leaving her on I-70
INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man has pleaded guilty to killing a 21-year-old woman along I-70 in 2022.
According to court documents, Jason Rhea was sentenced to 35 years in the Indiana Department of Correction after Rhea pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. The initial sentence was 30 years with a five year enhancement.
Rhea was initially charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. Court documents state that both of those charges were dismissed.
This comes after the death of 21-year-old Dai-Ghia “Dai Dai” Hogan in March 2022. Hogan’s body was spotted by a state trooper along I-70 after she had been shot twice in the back of her head and once in the left side of her face.
According to previous reports, Hogan and Rhea had been spotted together on surveillance footage at a motel off of N Shadeland Ave. two hours before her body was found.
Officials said that the bullets that were loaded in the confiscated handgun matched the same bullets found in Hogan’s body. A DNA swab of the gun also connected Rhea with the weapon.
Rhea was initially arrested in April 15, 2022 by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
