Fight at west side bar leads to homicide investigation
INDIANAPOLIS – Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was intentionally struck and killed by a vehicle on Indy’s west side Saturday morning.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just before 12:30 a.m., officers were called to the Checkered Flag Tavern in the 5700 block of West Morris Street on the report of a person struck.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male in the parking lot with trauma to his body. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to police.
Investigators say a fight broke out between inside the bar, which proceeded to spill out to the parking lot. At some point, someone intentionally drove their vehicle toward a crowd of people where the adult male was struck, according to police.
Investigators did not give a description of the vehicle involved, or the driver behind the wheel.
The incident remains under investigation.
