IMPD officer and his family displaced by weekend fire
INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer and his family were displaced by a house fire over the weekend.
Per IMPD, southeast district officer Michael Hupp’s home burned down, and he and his family lost all their personal property that was in the house.
IMPD has set an account up at Professional Police Officers Credit Union — located at 1502 E. Washington St. in Indianapolis — to help Hupp and his family recover from the fire. The agency is encouraging its officers to consider donating to Hupp and his family via the account.
“While we are thankful for him and his family’s safety, it goes without saying that this will be an incredibly difficult time ahead as the family rebuilds,” IMPD leadership wrote in a memo to its staff. “This is an opportunity for us to help, no matter how large or small the amount, during their time of need.”
As of this article’s publication, no additional information on fire and its impact on Hupp and his family had been made available.
