HCSO: 18-year-old broke into home, fell asleep on floor
PITTSBORO, Ind. — An 18-year-old was arrested on Saturday after police said he broke into a home while intoxicated and fell asleep on the floor.
According to the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 6:30 a.m. to a residence on the 4800 block of East CR 750 North on the report of a burglary in progress.
When police arrived, HCSO spoke to the homeowner, who told them an unknown male was found on the floor, asleep in the office area of his home.
Deputies then attempted to communicate with the unknown male, later identified as 18-year-old Nicholas L. Johnson, using their PA system in a squad car.
This resulted in what the HCSO referred to as a 2.5-hour standoff. Eventually, Johnson was taken into custody without incident while showing signs of intoxication. “He advised deputies that he had been in the area last evening with friends and has no idea how he ended up in the residence,” the HCSO said.
Johnson is preliminarily charged with residential entry and minor in consumption of alcohol, per the HCSO.
