An arrest warrant was issued for Gardner in February after officers were called to the scene of a double shooting that occurred in the 1200 block of Madison Avenue. APD confirmed at the time that one of the victims had been shot in the hand while the other sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

The male was initially reported as being in “serious” condition while the female victim was transported to an area hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries. Both victims were later released from the supervision of area hospitals on Feb. 28, APD said.

APD said investigators quickly identified Gardner as the likely suspect in the shooting and began working to determine his whereabouts. Detectives successfully apprehended Gardner Tuesday in the 1600 block of West 10th Street following a brief standoff, according to APD.

APD encouraged anyone with information related to this case to contact 765-648-6732 or 317-262-TIPS (8477).
