Boil water order lifted for east side of Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS — Citizens Energy Group lifted its boil water order for customers on Indianapolis’ east side Saturday morning.
The order, first issued on Thursday, was caused by a water main break at 22nd Street and Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue.
After required testing from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Citizens Energy reported that tap water on the east side of Indianapolis is now safe to drink. Boiling water before consumption is no longer necessary.
Some customers may still experience lower water pressure, despite the boil order being lifted. Citizens Energy indicated low water pressure may impact its customers until the damaged main is fully repaired.
22nd Street is expected to remain closed “until late next week,” Citizens Energy confirmed. The company urged drivers to continue to follow all posted signage and take detours as required.
Citizens Energy Group reported that it is committed to “(repairing) the roadway to City-approved construction standards.”
