Bremen woman arrested for practicing medicine without license

BREMEN, Ind. — A Bremen woman was arrested for practicing medicine without a license on Wednesday.

According to a press release from Indiana State Police, 38-year-old Aurelina Kiefer now faces the following preliminary charges:

  • Unlawful practice — Level 5 Felony
  • Corrupt business influence — Level 5 Felony
  • Improper massage therapy licensure — Class C Misdemeanor

ISP indicated that Kiefer’s arrest capped a months-long investigation. State police first began looking into Kiefer’s alleged activity after officers with the Bremen Police Department asked troopers for assistance with an investigation involving a medical practice that was operating without a license.

Police executed search warrants in two places in Bremen — a residence located along State Road 331 and Aurelina Spa, which sits at 822 W. Plymouth St. Law enforcement also executed a warrant at a business located at 214 S. Indiana Ave. in Goshen.

Unlawful practice and corrupt business influence are the most serious of the preliminary charges Kiefer faces. In Indiana, the maximum penalty for Level 5 Felonies like unlawful practice and corrupt business influence is a six-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.

As of this article’s publication, no additional information Kiefer’s case had been made available by ISP. No records pertaining to her case had been added to Indiana’s public court reporting system as of 8:21 p.m. Wednesday.
