Colts linebacker to raise money for Midwest food bank with each 2024 tackle
INDIANAPOLIS — With every tackle this season, Zaire Franklin, a linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts, will make a donation to the Midwest Food Bank of Indiana.
According to a news release, Franklin will donate $44 per tackle to the food bank, Coca-Cola Consolidated will contribute a dollar-for-dollar match donation.
This comes after Franklin broke the record for the number of tackles recorded in a season in 2023 with 179. In 2022, Franklin recorded 167 tackles.
“I’m excited to be teaming up with Coca-Cola Consolidated and the Midwest Food Bank of Indiana this season to take part in the fight against hunger,” Franklin said in the release. “Being involved in the community is always a priority for me, and this is a great way to make an impact both on and off the field.”
The release said that Franklin has been named a team captain for the Colts five times, from 2020-24, and was named the team’s nominee in 2023 for the Walter Payton man of the Year Award.
“We believe that by coming together with a partner like Zaire Franklin, we can support our community and fulfill our commitment to inspire and serve,” Sam Meiner, the vice president and general manager of Midwest’s market unit, said in the release.
Individuals wanting to help can donate to the Midwest Food Bank of Indiana by using the memo code “ZAIRE” on the food bank’s website. The taxable donation will be valid for 2025 at the end of the 2024 NFL season.
