Decatur Township school bus involved in I-70 crash
INDIANAPOLIS — Officials with the Indiana State Police responded to a Decatur Township school bus crash that occurred on I-70 westbound Tuesday morning.
According to a post on social media from Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine, the crash involving a bus from the M.S.D. of Decatur Township occurred on I-70 westbound, east of Meridian Street.
In the post, Perrine said that the bus overturned. While there were students on board, Perrine said that they “only suffered minor injuries.”
“Expect delays in the area,” the post read.
In a statement from Decatur Township schools, officials said that four students and a driver were on the bus at the time.
“We are thankful that no significant injuries were reported on site. However, out of an abundance of caution, the students and driver will be transported for medical evaluation,” the statement read. “All parents/guardians of the students on the bus have been notified. Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we will continue to care for and monitor the impact on those involved. We appreciate the assistance from the Indiana State Police and all first responders.”
