LAPEL, Ind. — A 39-year-old Lapel man has been arrested after he reportedly fondled and molested an underage family member several nights when the family member was between the ages of 9 and 11.
According to court documents filed late last month by the Lapel Police Department, 39-year-old Anthony Hoffa has been preliminarily charged with:
- Two counts of child molesting, one a Level 1 felony and the other a Level 4 felony
- One count of incest, a Level 4 felony
On the evening of Jan. 27, the mother of the underage family member spoke with officers from the Alexandria Police Department. The mother of the child had reportedly told her that a family member, later identified as Hoffa, had fondled her and molested her.
That next day, Hoffa reportedly walked into the Lapel Police Department to “turn himself in.” The documents said that Hoffa spoke with police in an interview, telling them that he would get “aroused” by the child when he would “cuddle” with her. Hoffa reportedly told police that the child was around 9 when “he started touching her.”
In an interview with the underage family member, the child reportedly told police that the fondling was a “normal” occurrence, telling police that it happened “every night.”
