Fallen tree crashes into Putnam County deputy’s vehicle
PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. — A sheriff’s deputy in Putnam County had a close call Friday night after a tree fell and nearly landed on him.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was out of his department vehicle while responding to a report of an accident involving a car and tree on U.S. 40. Another tree then fell beside the deputy and crashed into his vehicle.
No injuries were reported during the commotion, according to PCSO.
“Our deputies are soaked to the bone but none of that matters. Tonight while working an accident on US40 we were very fortunate to have no injuries to report,” the Facebook post read. “Deputy Query was out of his commission working a car/tree accident when another tree fell beside him smashing his vehicle. Too close for comfort. Blessed beyond belief that it’s only a vehicle. Keep all the emergency services in your prayers while they are helping the traveling public tonight. The fire services are keeping up with the downed trees as fast as they can. Stay in if you can.”
