Funeral arrangements made for fallen Hendricks County Deputy Fred Fislar
HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — A Hendricks County sheriff’s deputy who died this week in the line of duty will be laid to rest Sunday.
Deputy Fred Fislar died late Monday night while responding to a single-vehicle accident on County Road 300 S and State Road 267 north of Plainfield. A 2009 Honda passenger vehicle had reportedly struck a utility pole, causing several electrical wires to appear around the crash site.
Visitation and funeral services for Fislar will take place on Sunday, April 21, at Cloverdale High School, located at 205 Market Street. It is scheduled to begin around 3 p.m.
The time for public visitation has not yet been revealed.
The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office said the services will not feature a traditional law enforcement vehicle procession, honoring the request of Fislar’s family.
A private burial will commence following the funeral service.
HCSO added that more information will likely be made available on Friday.
Fislar had served in the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office since 2021 and also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Fislar leaves behind a wife and two young children, 6-year-old boy and a 6-month-old girl.
HCSO has since created an account with the Central Indiana Police Foundation for community members interested in donating to Fislar’s family. Checks can be sent to the Central Indiana Police Foundation at 1525 Shelby Street in Indianapolis for those who do not wish to donate online. The zip code is 46203. HCSO asked anyone interested in donating to write “Deputy Fred Fislar” in the check’s memo line.
