GFD: Vehicle pursuit leads to serious crash in Greenwood
GREENWOOD, Ind. — Police are investigating a crash following a vehicle pursuit that occurred at Smith Valley Road and Meridian Street Wednesday evening.
Per a news release from the Greenwood Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the area at 6:25 p.m. near the roundabout on Meridian Street, on the call of a vehicle accident with entrapment. Reportedly, a four-door vehicle was overturned with four occupants inside.
Upon arriving to the scene, GFD found all four occupants outside of the vehicle, not requiring assistance from the fire department. No injuries were reported as of this article’s publication.
Greenwood FD also stated that the crash was the result of a vehicle pursuit, conducted by Beech Grove Police Department. The cause of the chase is still unknown.
Traffic at the Smith Valley Road and Meridian Street intersection is currently blocked in all directions. As of 6:51 p.m., crews are working to remove the wrecked vehicle from the roadway. Until the area is cleared, GFD are advising drivers to seek an alternate route.
