Greenfield-Central Junior High School teacher placed on leave
GREENFIELD, Ind. — A teacher at Greenfield Central Junior High School has been placed on leave for his “behavior” at the school this week.
In an email that was sent to parents late Tuesday, Superintendent Harold Olin confirmed that Joshua MacIntyre, who works as a physical education teacher, was placed on leave on Feb. 25. Olin added that a final decision would be made over MacIntyre’s employment status during a Board meeting on March 10.
Although the email did not go into specifics, Olin confirmed that MacIntyre was removed from his position by Principal Jim Bever and other school administrators. Olin said the teacher was also evaluated by local law enforcement.
“It was determined that Joshua was not in a state appropriate to supervise students, yet he refused to participate in a chemical screening,” the email said.
The email went on to state that MacIntyre reportedly rejected offers from school staff to transport him from the school grounds. As part of their investigation into MacIntyre, Olin said the administrative team had conducted interviews with students and staff in the subsequent days.
“Please be assured that the safety of our students will always be our highest priority, and Greenfield-Central is committed to taking the appropriate steps to achieve this goal,” the email concluded.
