INDIANAPOLIS – An investigation is underway after the Indianapolis Fire Department responded to a residence fire on Indy’s south side Saturday night.
Crews from multiple agencies responded to the 3400 block of West Thompson Road after receiving multiple calls for a reported house fire just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
Upon arrival, crews saw the house engulfed in flames as drivers on I-465 between Kentucky Avenue and Harding Street exits had no trouble seeing the fire.
Fire crews say they had difficulty accessing water because the nearest hydrant was two miles away from where they were at. Crews were able to get the fire under control in just under 90 minutes.
According to IFD, no one was home at the time the fire started. Thankfully there were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
