IMPD: Man found dead in street on south side of Indianapolis; Homicide investigation underway

INDIANAPOLIS — Police found a man lying dead in the street on the south side of south side of Indianapolis Monday night.

Per the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of El Lago Boulevard on a report of disturbance. While police were on their way to the scene, dispatchers received two calls.

One caller indicated that they saw a person lying in the street. The other caller told dispatchers they heard four shots go off in the area.

When IMPD arrived at the scene, they confirmed a deceased adult male was lying in the street. Medics examined the man and pronounced him dead at the scene.

IMPD reported that medics struggled to pinpoint exactly what happened to the victim. Police indicated the man had multiple wounds, and it was unclear if he was shot, stabbed or killed another way.

Law enforcement identified one eyewitness at the scene. That witness was transported to the IMPD homicide office for an interview because police believed they needed a translator to get an accurate account of incident from the witness.

IMPD is currently attempting to gather video of the incident. One person told police they saw a car leaving the area after the killing, but IMPD did not have a description of the vehicle available for release as of this article’s publication.

Police are urging those with information on the killing to call the IMPD homicide office at (317) 327-3475.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
