Indy’s first deadly shooting of 2025
INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis police officers confirmed the first deadly shooting of 2025. Thursday night just before 9 p.m., IMPD responded to a shooting on Capsella Lane on Indy’s southeast side.
IMPD confirms three people were shot at a home on Capsella Lane which is just off Troy Avenue near I-465, but police are working to piece together exactly what happened. Officers said one of the people in the home died, the two others are in critical condition.
According to an officer on the scene, someone was inside the home trying to sell a gun. That’s when other people showed up and it escalated into gunfire.
Officers put a tourniquet on one of the three victims who were shot. But, it’s unclear if one of the three people who were shot is the person who initially pulled the trigger.
Two other men inside the house witnessed what happened and were not injured. Police are talking with them to get more information on what happened.
