ISP investigating inmate death at Wayne County Jail

RICHMOND, Ind. – Indiana State Police is investigating after an inmate died at the Wayne County Jail early Friday morning.

According to a press release from authorities, at approximately 5 a.m. Friday morning, 36-year-old Andrew Taylor was found unresponsive in the jail.

Jail and medical staff attempted life-saving measures, but the inmate ultimately died. Wayne County Sheriff Randy Ritter has requested Indiana State Police to investigate the incident.

Indiana State Police reported that the inmate’s toxicology and autopsy results are pending. At this time, investigators do not believe the inmate’s death is related to any foul play.

The incident remains under investigation.
