Lightning believed to be cause of Carmel residence fire

CARMEL, Ind. – A residential fire in Carmel is under investigation, with authorities believing that it was likely caused by lightning.

The Carmel Fire Department was called to a home in the 24500 block of Tullamore Court just before 11 p.m. Friday night on the report of a residence fire.

Fire crews said the occupants of the home were not home at the time of the fire. Investigators say no one was injured during the incident.

While the exact cause remains under investigation, CFD said it believes lightning was likely the cause of the fire.
