Man dead after shooting on east side of Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS — A shooting on the east side of Indianapolis left a man dead Monday night.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 8700 block of East Washington Street around 8 p.m. on a report of a person shot. When police arrived at the scene, they located an adult male with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported from the scene to an area hospital after the shooting. Medics pronounced the man dead shortly after he arrived at the hospital.
IMPD homicide detectives have responded to the scene — which FOX59/CBS4 crews determined to be a Phillips 66 gas station — to investigate the shooting. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency and Marion County Coroner’s Office will assist IMPD with its investigation. MCCO will also release the decedent’s name once his family has been properly notified of his death.
