Man killed in downtown shooting

INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating after a man was killed in a shooting in downtown Indianapolis Saturday night.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just before 11 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of East Washington Street and Alabama Street on the report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. Investigators say he was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but later died of his injuries.

IMPD says it detained an adult male as a person of interest, but they were also transported to an area hospital to be checked out.

Investigators say the the person of interest ran down Washington Street before they were detained, leading to several temporary road closures in the area.
