Man struck and killed by vehicle on Indy’s north side

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metro Police Department is investigating after a pickup truck hit and killed a man late Monday night.

According to IMPD, officers received a call before 10:30 p.m. of a person struck at the intersection of Michigan Road and Depauw Boulevard. IMPD says the driver made the call to them, stating, “I know I hit somebody, but I cannot find the person that I hit.”

When police arrived, they initially could not find the victim. Shortly after that, they found an adult male in the tall weeds on the opposite side of the roadway from where the vehicle hit him.

Police said the victim and a friend were walking across Michigan Road when a pickup truck hit him. IMPD also stated the victim was wearing all dark clothing, and the driver told officers they could not see the victim until the crash.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and the friend who was with the victim are cooperating with investigators.

The driver is being tested for intoxication, which is standard procedure in deadly crashes.
