INDIANAPOLIS — Michael Strahan, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, two-time Emmy winner, “Good Morning America” co-host and longtime analyst for “FOX NFL Sunday” will be the honorary Pace Car driver for the 109th Indianapolis 500, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced on Sunday during “FOX NFL Sunday.”

According to a press release, Strahan will drive a 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 coupe. This vehicle has 1,064 horsepower and can reach speeds of up to 233 mph. IMS said this is the highest top speed of any car ever made in the U.S. by an auto manufacturer.

Additionally, Strahan will lead the 33 drivers to the start of the race. IMS said they will announce specific Pace Car details, such as the livery, at a later date.

“Michael is an impressive addition to the lineup of all-star athletes and celebrities to serve as

This star-studded list includes Morgan Freeman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Robin Roberts, Patrick Dempsey, Ken Griffey Jr. and Tyrese Haliburton, IMS wrote.

“From the gridiron to the broadcast studio, Michael is no stranger to leading a fast-paced field,” Boles added. “As we kick off a new era of INDYCAR and the Indy 500 on FOX, Michael will have one of the best seats in the house for the start of the world’s greatest race.”
