Sunny and seasonal weather today; storm chances rise Thursday afternoon
It’s another pleasant morning throughout central Indiana with mild temperatures in the 60s and mostly clear skies. Some outlying locations have dropped into the 50s. Roads should be in good shape weather-wise for the morning commute and heading into the afternoon.
An area of high pressure is hovering over the Great Lakes region today, which will keep Indianapolis and surrounding locations dry with plenty of sunshine. Highs will rise into the mid-80s this afternoon.
The weather pattern will begin to change tomorrow as humidity levels rise and rain chances return. There will be spotty showers and thunderstorms by Thursday afternoon with the storm coverage rising Thursday night. Highs will return to the mid-80s tomorrow.
There is a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather over Illinois tomorrow and it clips our far western counties. A few strong wind gusts are possible with the thunderstorm activity late Thursday night into Friday morning. Heavy downpours are also expected. Rain totals may range 1” to 2” for parts of central Indiana after the system moves out Friday.
Lingering showers are possible on Saturday. However, the area is going to begin to dry out this weekend. Afternoon highs will fall back into the lower 80s both Saturday and Sunday.
