INDIANAPOLIS — A Chicago-based furniture store is closing six of its locations in central Indiana.
According to a press release, The RoomPlace is shutting down its four Indianapolis stores and its Carmel and Plainfield locations.
The RoomPlace is closing its doors in central Indiana as part of a new company restructuring plan. A release indicates The RoomPlace shuttered its doors in central Indiana to “align its costs with its projected sales and economic realities.”
The RoomPlace is also closing its stores in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Peoria, Illinois, to “allow the business to refocus its efforts on strengthening its 18 Chicagoland stores.”
As operations wind down in Peoria, central Indiana and Wisconsin, The RoomPlace will contract with Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) to conduct store-closing sales. Officials with The RoomPlace indicated that orders placed before Feb. 2 will be fulfilled as promised.
“As a family-run business with strong community ties, it’s not an easy decision to close stores and impact the people who work, shop and live in the affected communities,” The RoomPlace CEO Bruce Berman said via release. “Retail sales throughout the country continue to be down, and our industry has been hit hard. We’re making the tough decisions now to ensure we’re around for another 100 years.”
Officials with The RoomPlace ensured their Chicagoland stores will continue to operate as normal.
“We are determined to become better and stronger in Chicagoland by continuing to offer consumers the largest selection of stylish brands at the market’s best prices,” Berman said via release.
