Tipton County Sheriff’s Department investigating fatal crash
TIPTON COUNTY, Ind. — An Elwood man died in a crash in Tipton County on Saturday.
According to a Tipton County Sheriff’s Department press release, law enforcement was dispatched to the 2700 block of East State Road 28 around 8:33 a.m. to investigate a single-vehicle crash. After a preliminary examination of the incident, sheriff’s deputies determined a car had left the roadway near a curve and crashed into a creek north of State Road 28.
Deputies and members of the Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department entered the creek and attempted to provide medical assistance to the driver. The individual, however, did not survive his injuries.
Police identified the decedent as 40-year-old Philp “Kyle” Degler of Elwood. TCSD believes the 2016 Kia Soul Degler was driving left State Road 28 for an unknown reason and entered a corn field before it ended up in the creek.
