What to expect during Colts’ first weekend of training camp

WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Indianapolis Colts start training camp this week—a sign that the NFL season will be in full swing before you know it.

Players report to Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield on Wednesday. The team’s first open practice is Thursday, July 25.

Some practices include a fee this year

The team will hold 12 practices that are open to the public. Seven of the 12 practices are free for all ages, but five of them (July 27, July 28, Aug. 4, Aug. 14 and Aug. 15) include a $5 fee for fans 18 and up.

The team said proceeds from the fee will go toward the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis.

Regardless of whether the practice includes a fee, fans will need to get tickets at the Colts website to gain entry.

Parking and security information

Fans can park in Lots E and G, with ADA parking available in all lots. On certain days, Lots C and F will also be available. Parking costs $10 on the day of the event, but fans can park for $5 if they get a parking pass in advance.

All fans will be screened before entering the site and should allow extra time to account for screening procedures. Training camp will also follow the NFL’s “Clear Bag” policy.

No outside food or beverages are allowed. The team said daily camp specials on food, drinks and merchandise will be available.

Player autographs

As things currently stand, there are no formal autograph sessions for Colts players.

The team said autographs will be available “only after practice” and fans won’t have access to players before practices are scheduled to start.

“Autographs are not guaranteed and are based on player availability,” the Colts said in a news release.

Weather plan

In the event of inclement weather, the Colts will move practice inside to the Grand Park Events Center.

However, seating is much more limited at the venue, which means a smaller number of fans will be able to watch practice.

The team will close Colts City and hospitality suites. Fans unable to attend the indoor practice will have their parking and ticket fees refunded.
